MUNI Heritage Weekend 2018 is here
Tonight is the "calm before the storm." MUNI Heritage Weekend 2018 kicks off tomorrow.
So much work has been done to get everything ready. I can't even begin to acknowledge or thank the MANY MUNI folks that have been hard at work the past few weeks trying to get ready for this...
* Arne Hansen and the cable car shop staff getting 42 ready (and 23 ready for service as well, we should see it this weekend) * Kevin Sheridan and everyone in the Cam Beach Yard shops working on all the vintage cars to get them ready for the weekend.
* Robert, Michelle and the MUNI Trainers putting everyone through their "refresher" paces on the streetcars, trolley coaches, and busses.
* All the shop guys on the rubber-tired side (none of which i know) who i DO know have been hard at work to try and have those amazing buses available for the weekend.
* All of the operations staff that will be working hard so we can enjoy ourselves...
If you guys are around this weekend, PLEASE give a big thank you to everyone wearing a yellow vest! There have been some major efforts to make this year's Heritage Weekend more interactive. With a HUGE thank you to a handful of volunteers on the ground this weekend, the Market Street Railway website is having a live update takeover. These volunteers will be posting photographic updates all weekend. Please follow along! There is also a live webcam of the action in front of the museum. Finally for those of you on facebook, there is an event page that should also have live updates throughout the weekend...please follow the Facebook event page
I hope you guys find these interactive options enjoyable this year if you are not able to be here in person. Comments and feedback are always encouraged so we can look to do even bigger and better things in 2019!
